November - Decoupage!
Our November meeting will be held on Friday, November 2nd, from 1:00 to 3:00, at the home of Tina Tanner (43447 Tanner Rd., Gonzales, LA 70737). We will be decorating keepsake boxes using the art of decoupage. The children will need to bring a box for decorating, as well as the paper they would like to use to decorate it. The box can be a shoe box. Or if you prefer, craft stores carry inexpensive boxes designed specifically for decorating. Magazine clippings, wallpaper samples, and photos all make great material for covering the box. We will provide some Modge Podge (glue), but if you have some at home, please bring it. Also, foam brushes (or any kind of small paint brush) make a great tool for applying the glue. Please bring a snack to share.

October Field Trip: Kliebert's Alligator Farm
On Friday, October 5th, our Homeschool Connections group toured Kliebert's Alligator and Turtle Farm near Hammond. We had a great turn-out! We learned about the business of raising and selling turtles and alligators, as well as interesting facts about the animals. We got to see alligators of all ages, including a couple of huge 55-year-old gators! The brave even got a chance to sit on a live alligator (with close supervision, of course)!

September 2012
Our upcoming Homeschool Connections gathering is just around the corner! We will be having cake decorating lessons for the girls, and rope tying lessons for the boys.
For each girl who will be participating, bring one 8- or 9-inch round cake layer. (In other words, one boxed cake mix makes two 9-inch round layers. You only need one layer per girl.) We will provide the rope for the boys.
We will meet at the home of Brandi Richardson (14042 Bourque Rd., Gonzales) from 1:00 to 3:00 on Friday, September 7th.
If you have any questions, feel free to call, email, or text.
Hope to see you soon!

Hi Moms,
We will get together this Friday, May 4th, 1:00-3:00, at my house (19202 Chardonnay Ave., Baton Rouge, 70817). This is the time of year when we usually start evaluating the past school year and looking to the next school year. So we thought a little "mini book fair" might be helpful, especially for those just getting started. If you have any school books or supplies you are finished with and won't be using again, you can bring them to sell or trade. Also, if you have a favorite curriculum/book, bring a sample for others to preview.
Please bring a snack to share. Also, kids can bring fishing gear if they would like to fish.
Call me or email me if you have any questions.
See you soon,
Stephani Guttery

New Year News
Happy New Year, Homeschool Moms!
2012 brings with it an exciting change to our normal Homeschool Connections schedule. Instead of having a meeting every month, we will have our regular meeting every other month, and on the alternating months, we will get together for an activity, (i.e. field trip, park day, etc.).
We will not be meeting in January, so our first activity of 2012 will be a tour of the Kleinpeter Dairy production plant on Friday, February 3rd.
This tour is limited to children 6 years of age and older. (Children under six years of age cannot be allowed on the plant premises.) The tour lasts 30-45 minutes.
The tour starts promptly at 9am, so we will meet at the Kleinpeter Dairy facility on Airline Hwy. in Baton Rouge at 8:45am. (See link for directions.)
There is a minimum of 10 people for the tour and a maximum of 50, so please RSVP to me (with the number of children and adults) by January 23rd. The facility is not handicap accessible.
If you have any questions, feel free to call or email me.
See you soon!
