Christmas Ornament Painting - November 7th

Get ready for painting fun! Ready or not, Christmas is right around the corner! We'll be painting ornaments on Friday, November 7th, at the home of Tina Tanner (43447 Tanner Rd., Gonzales, LA 70737). 1:00-3:00. The ornaments are $8 each. Please bring a snack to share.

Port Husdon State Historic Site

We had beautiful weather and a great turn-out for our trip to Port Hudson State Historic Site on October 17th. We learned about various aspects of Civil War life as we observed and participated in nine different demonstrations, such as Civil War medicine, Town Ball (similar to baseball), cooking, and artillery. Afterward, we had a picnic and fellowship by the pond.

Ol' Fashioned Fun - September 5th

Are you ready for a good ol' fashioned back-to-school kickoff in the country? Homeschool Connections will get together for an afternoon of fun on Friday, Sept. 5th, from 1:00 to 3:00 at G2G Track off Hwy 42 in Prairieville. (See address below.) There is a pond for swimming, complete with rope swing and diving board.* There is a sandy area for little ones to play. We'll have some fun games too! Bring lawn chairs, life jackets for little ones, snacks, and lots of drinks! See you there! WHEN: Friday, Sept. 5th TIME: 1:00-3:00 WHERE: G2G Track, 18194 Conthia Street, Prairieville, 70769 BRING: Life jackets, towels, lawn chairs, snacks, plenty of drinks *Each parent is responsible for monitoring her own child(ren) in the pond.

We have something really fun and different planned for our April activity! We will be painting our own pottery! If you have ever been to a paint-your-own-pottery studio like "Painted Bayou" or "Artistico Express," this will be a similar experience. An assortment of pottery items will be provided for you to choose from, and you will paint and personalize the pottery yourself. The items will then be fired at a separate location and date, and returned to us by the time we meet for our May activity. These make great personalized gifts, and.... Mother's Day is coming up (hint hint). Items range in cost from $8-$30. This event will take place at the church on Friday, April 11th, from 1:00-3:00. Please RSVP.

For our March activity we will be taking a tour of the La. Regional Airport on Friday, March 7th. The tour is free of charge and will begin at 10:00am. The airport is located in Gonzales on 6255 Airport Industrial Blvd. See link at right for directions. (The tour will last about an hour and a half.) Please RSVP so we can let them know how many to expect. Hope you can make it!

Our first activity of 2014 will be a trip to the Baton Rouge Zoo Friday, February 7th, at 1:00. We will get a great field trip discount if we make one payment as a group, so we will meet outside the gate promptly at 1:00 so that I can collect payment. (See rates below.)
